Callout to assist Dorset Police and DorSAR. A 10 year old boy ran away from carers in the MILDOWN area of BLANDFORD. Matt and Charlie attended and conducted a search covering 300m in diameter from the place he was last seen. Laurence, Andy, Erica and Search dog Freya were on standby to assist with continuing efforts on New Years Day. An additional three area dogs and and 1 hasty, with supports were also on standby from Lowland Search Dogs Southern. The young man returned home to his carers safe and well at approximately 0200 hours, during the initial searches.

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for David K, 48, last seen in the ANTELOPE HOTEL, POOLE on 18th December 2010. Erica, Laurence, Andy and Matt all attended to assist with foot searches in the urban area. Search dog FREYA had her first operational, brief search, but as the area was a busy urban search, the team concentrated their efforts without dogs. The team were put on standby to search for a missing 54 year old male, suffering from dementia, in the POOLE area. There were great concerns for the male as he was last seen wearing indoor clothing. The Christmas evening remained particularly cold. Matt and Charlie were getting ready to attend with the callout said to be imminent. Fortunately, the missing male was located safe and well.

Matt, Laurence and search dog Charlie attended the RIVERSIDE AVENUE area of BOURNEMOUTH, following reports of a missing 78 year old from the Retired Nurses Home. The team were put on standby to assist with the search for a 61 year old male who was believed to be confused in the BITTERNE area. As HantSAR were assessing suitable urban areas for the dogs, the team were stood down when he was located safe and well, but confused, in Southampton City Centre.

Callout to assist Dorset Police search for a missing suicidal male near CHARMOUTH. Matt and Charlie responded with Erica and Search Dog Freya. This would have been Freya’s first operational search however the team were stood down on route as the male was located in the proposed search area by a friend of his.

Callout number two! The team were called to assist LSDSouthern and Hants Police search for a missing vulnerable male lost in LINFORD BOTTOM. As luck would have it, this was the team’s training location for that night and members were beginning to arrive for their 7pm training. Fortunately, the male was located safe but particularly cold, by police, just as the team were arriving on scene. The team then continued to train at the location with a request from the police not to get lost ourselves as they’ve been out all evening looking for the male!

Callout to assist DORSAR and Dorset Police search for a 36 year old despondent female missing from her home in CANDY’S LANE in CORFE MULLEN. Search Dog Charlie with Matt and Andy, search boggy fields and woodland, near her home, into the early hours of the morning. 04 August 2010 18:30. Callout to assist HantSAR and LSDSouthern search for a missing 70 year old female with depression in the NORTH BADDESLEY area of HAMPSHIRE. With just a few hours rest following the days earlier search, Matt and Charlie assisted HantSAR and Hampshire Constabulary search for a missing 65 year old female who, suffering with dementia, had gone missing since 1800 hrs from her home near HAMBLE. Matt and Charlie, supported by Joe from LSDSouthern, searched the south end of the QUEEN VICTORIA COUNTRY PARK, HAMBLE. The search was concluded in the early hours of the next morning.

Planned search assisting Dorset Police in the BURTON AREA. Matt and search dog Charlie searched BURTON ROUGH, BURTON with the support of Erica. This was a tough search area due to the amount of rhododendron bushes present which made the vegetation very dense and in some places impenetrable. The wind was relatively still within the wooded area and due to a short spell of rain prior to starting the search it was fairly damp underfoot. UPDATE: Sadly a body found in the sea was confirmed as the missing Christchurch man. Click for BBC News

Callout to assist HantSAR and Hampshire Constabulary search for a despondent 30 year old male missing in BUNKERS HILL, near DENMEAD, HAMPSHIRE. Although no dogs were available to assist, the police search teams quickly located the male in a fairly poorly condition. He was then taken to hospital.

Standby received in the early hours of the morning to assist HantSAR and Hampshire Constabulary search for a missing 9 year old male with special needs missing since midnight that night. The male was located safe and well, prior to the teams assistance being required, having been outside all night.

Matt and Charlie searched fields and woodland with the support of HantSAR. The male was eventually located safe and well in London! Callout to assist DorSAR and Dorset Police search for a missing despondent male in the WARMWELL area. Matt and Erica, with search dog Charlie, searched a disused pit prior to being stood down. The missing male’s body was located by Vanessa and Pam with search dog Zoe from Lowland Search Dogs Southern (the Hampshire based dog team). Callout to assist HantSAR search for a missing 83 year old female, suffering from dementia, in the HYTHE area of HAMPSHIRE. Matt and Charlie searched a small but dense section of woodland within a housing estate, assisted by Sandy from DorSAR. The team had other areas to search but were stood down a third of the way into the search when one of HantSAR’s foot based teams located the female.

Standby to assist Dorset Police and Portland Coastguard. A 13 year old boy went missing from school and was last seen heading towards HENGISTBURY HEAD, SOUTHBOURNE. Concerns were growing as the night was getting colder and colder and enquiries with the boys friends offered no further leads. The team were stood down within the hour when he turned up at home, safe and well.

Callout to assist DorSAR and Portland Coastguard look for a missing 19 year old girl in the LANEHOUSE area of WEYMOUTH. The girl was last seen the night before camping in a field. Matt and Rob searched with Charlie but were stood down approximately 15 minutes into the search when she was located safe and well by coastguard personnel.

Callout to assist Dorset Police in their efforts to find a missing male from WEYMOUTH. His car was located near PUDDLETOWN HEATH, DORCHESTER. Unfortunately no one from the team were available. Standby to assist LSD Sussex. A planned early evening search for on going efforts to find a missing 52 year old female in the HAYWARDS HEATH area. Within an hour of the standby notification, she was located in a field by a helicopter involved in the search and airlifted to hospital. Consequently the team were stood down and were not needed.

Callout to assist HantSAR and Lowland Search Dogs – Southern. A 12 and 4 year old, in the LORDSWOOD area of SOUTHAMPTON, had been missing since the morning. Matt with search dog Charlie were available to respond with Andy and Rob supporting. The team were stood down 9 minutes later when the two children were located safe and well nearby.

Callout to assist Portland and Solent Coastguard search for a despondent 15 year old girl who had gone missing somewhere along the Dorset / Hampshire coastal border. A large search operation was being mounted by the coastguard prior to Andy and Matt’s arrival. The girl was located safe and well.

Callout to assist Portland Coastguard search for a male who reported that he had fallen off of his bike, broken his ankle and was trapped in mud, near water. Matt and Andy responded with search dog Charlie. The team were stood down on arrival when the male was located by the coastguard helicopter. He wasn’t trapped in mud, he was only near a puddle and didn’t have an ankle injury. Unfortunately, the male in question enjoys the attention and likes to set up situations to keep emergency services on their toes.
