"I joined the team in August 2009 before becoming a full member in January 2010. During this initial period I acted as a dog’s body for any dog and handler that wanted to train. This involved all manner of hiding places in heath land, woodland and urban areas. Since getting Fino in March 2010 my life has changed in a whole manner of ways. He is a bundle of energy that certainly keeps his mum and I busy. We wouldn’t change this for the world. His mum and I are learning almost as fast as Fino seems to be. We’ve made the odd mistake already but with the support of the Dorset Search Dogs team we’re looking forward to seeing Fino develop into a confident and happy search dog and much loved part of the family."
As a dedicated volunteer Steve would always be the first to volunteer to hide even when he knew some of the newer trainee dogs may be some time to find him.
