Duncan

Duncan Roberts

Duncan holds a Degree in International Disaster Engineering and Management (Hons) and has worked predominately in the Public Sector.

"I started off Lifeguarding when I was about 14 and volunteered with RLSS Poole for several years. I then moved on from this to join St. Johns Ambulance and progress through their qualifications. I have held a current First Aid Certificate ever since. Whilst at University I spent the Summer Holidays working as Beach Inspector on Bournemouth Beach providing security and first aid assistance to members of the public. It was tough being paid to be on the beach all day!"

After University Duncan went to work for Dorset Police as a Radio Dispatcher and, whilst doing this he joined Dorset Search and Rescue as a volunteer.

"I have always enjoyed doing the searches and when Matt told me that he was training his Puppy with the Hampshire team (Lowland Search Dogs). He suggested I came along to see what supports do. The rest, as they say, is history!"

Duncan is now a serving Police Officer, having swapped ends of the radio, and co-founded Dorset Search Dogs with Matt in February 2006.
