Recruiting Dogs Bodies

Lowland Search Dogs Southern (the Hampshire based search dog team) appeal for assistance on Meridian News to help them find willing volunteers to assist with training the search dogs. If you think you have what it takes to be a 'dogsbody' then email us at info@dorsetsearchdogs.org.uk

Introducing Bailey

He may only be 14 weeks old in this video but there are high hopes for little Bailey. Bailey is the latest recruit of Dorset Search Dogs and in just over a year he will be asked to help find missing people across the south. The liver and white English springer spaniel puppy began his training in December 2008.

Route and Path Search

Charlie and Matt conduct a simple route and path search. This type of search is used to quickly search along paths and defined tracks and normally checks no deeper than 10 meters on either side of the track. Smoke is used in the video to help illustrate what the scent does when it comes off of an individual and helps to show how and where the dog is likely to first detect the missing person.
